Ray Noble, Jack Hylton, Carroll Gibbons and the Savoy Hotel Orpheans, Lew Stone, Ambrose & His Orchestra… just a few of the bands which created the “between the wars” era of the British Dance Bands, when millions of adoring fans listened to them nightly on the wireless. Indeed, the nineteen-twenties and thirties, sometimes referred to as “The Dancing Decades”, were a golden time for superb bands (as well as great song-writing).
